13 Cool & Unique Getaways in Upstate New York

 

Short getaways in the season of hibernation feel more important than ever right now — am I right?! That’s why I wanted to share some cool choices of lodges, hotels, and Airbnbs that I’ve stumbled upon. For those who want to get away for a few days, enjoy toasty drinks, and breathe in the fresh chill in the air that brings out all the layers of the season — here’s a list of the best places to getaway for a cozy getaway in New York.     This inn is a truly hidden gem, created in 2016 by a British-American husband and wife duo. Inspired by their British meeting, they opened a gastropub in the inn, which features local farm-to-table fare, upstate NY craft beers, and artisanal cocktails. The inn has 5 guest rooms, fireside dining, and a riverside beer garden in the summer. It’s a must for a quaint stay in a bucolic, upstate New York town. 

  6. A Black A-Frame: Sustainable Catskills Cabin

    This five-star Airbnb A-frame cabin is the perfect city escape. It’s a two-bed, two-bath 1961 cabin hidden away on a private road in the heart of the Catskills in Kerhonkson, NY. It was named the "Coolest A-frame in NY" by the New York Post in 2020. It boasts an open dining room with original wood ceilings and beams, a newly renovated chef's kitchen, and endless wooded views from the back yard!     This adorable, 3 bedroom Airbnb house is located just 2 hours north of NYC in the heart of the Catskills. It sits on 32 acres of land off a private road making it the perfect hideout from the city that never sleeps. It’s close enough, however, to bustling towns like Woodstock and Phoenicia, making it the ideal spot for a long weekend stay. It can comfortably house up to 6 people and is a great choice for groups!

    Originally a textile manufacturing company built in the 1800’s, this 2 building, 23-room Roundhouse Hotel has a historic and artsy vibe. Family-owned, but with a five-star hotel vibe, this is a great getaway for anyone. Plus, you can visit the local Dia Beacon museum and Stormking Art Center nearby.

    A truly unique experience, book one of these amazing tiny houses, designed to a tee in upstate New York. Choose from a waterfall house, or stay in a tiny caboose-turned-house, named the Mocha. Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong with this incredible property and all its offerings!
