Mexico City: A Tour of the City's Coolest and Most Beautiful Spots!

Mexico City is so easy to fall in love with. You name it — this city has it all! From the music to the people, to the delicious street food and murals, to the stunning architecture — it should be at the top of your travel list! It’s one of my favorite cities to visit and I’d love to share my top 6 tourist destinations with you. Definitely add these 6 sights to your “must-see in CDMX” list:

Museo Nacional de Antropología

This is an unbelievable anthropology museum. It’s the largest and most visited museum in all of Mexico City. It’s family-friendly and a great way to gain deeper knowledge and understanding of Mexico’s rich heritage.

Palacio de Bellas Artes

This white-domed national theater, aka the Palace of Fine Arts, is a major cultural center for Mexico City. It’s architecturally stunning and was built in the late 19th century. Be sure to check their calendar before you go on your trip and hope you can attend an event here. They host theater, art, dance, music, opera, literature, and fine arts events!

Zócalo

This is the main square in central Mexico City, which has been a gathering place for Mexicans since Aztec times. Today, you can see cool, local acts here and get an authentic feel for the indigenous culture.

Paseo de la Reforma

Don’t miss this beautiful tree-and-statuary-adorned avenue, which runs diagonally across the heart of Mexico City. It was designed in the late 1860s to mirror some of the great boulevards in Europe, such as the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

Chapultepec Forest

This lush forest park offers one of the best views of all of Mexico City. Beware though! You can quite literally get lost in this park as it's one of the largest parks in the entire Western Hemisphere, taking up 1,695 acres! It has been dubbed “the lungs” of Mexico City because it serves a crucial function as the main ecological space in the city.

Roma Norte-Condesa

I loved this bohemian neighborhood with diverse restaurants and sidewalk cafes, cool nightlife, and cute boutique shops. It’s often cited for being a haven for hipsters. There are also some trendy boutique hotels here you might want to check out for your visit! It’s also close to the center of the city, making it easy to get to most of the sights. Definitely check it out.

Where to Stay

I stayed at Four Seasons Hotel Mexico City on the boulevard of Paseo de la Reforma — a short walk from the Bosque de Chapultepec and the neighborhood of Polanco. The property offers a verdant inner courtyard — I recommend checking out Fifty Mils, an eclectic and cool bar — helmed as one of the best in CDMX. It’s a great option for a nightcap — they offer a good variety of cocktails in an unpretentious classical bar.
