My PRP Hair Treatment Journey: The Final Session & Results
Hey everyone! I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve just completed my final PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) hair treatment in New York City at Great Many, and the results have me feeling so good! This process has been quite a journey, and I wanted to break down the entire experience, especially since I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how it works and what it feels like.
The PRP Process: How It Works
For those unfamiliar, PRP hair treatments involve using your own blood to promote hair growth. Sounds intense, right? But here’s how it works: after arriving at the clinic — in my case, Great Many — the first step was getting my blood drawn. This blood is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets, which are packed with growth factors. These platelets are then injected directly into your scalp to stimulate hair follicles and encourage hair growth.
Does PRP Hurt? My Experience & Supportive Care
One of the most common questions I’ve been asked is, "Does PRP hurt?" To be honest, the injections can be uncomfortable, especially during my menstrual cycle. However, the team at Great Many made sure I was as comfortable as possible with a range of support methods, including:
Local numbing anesthetic
Cool air blown into the injection site
A facial vibrating tool for distraction
Stress balls to keep me relaxed
Compassionate care from Steph, my nurse practitioner, who has been amazing throughout the entire process.
The clinic itself is welcoming and beautiful, and they offer additional products like growth shampoos and conditioners to support your treatment plan.

Why PRP for Hair Restoration?
My main concern was the thinning at my edges, which is something many of us experience due to stress, hormonal changes, and more. With PRP injections focusing on my edges, I’ve seen a noticeable improvement, and my hair is feeling fuller and stronger. Here’s a video showing a photo of where I started!
More Than Just PRP: A Holistic Approach
While PRP has played a big role in my hair transformation, the lifestyle changes I’ve made are equally important. These include:
Diet improvements for overall health
Adjusting my workout routine to reduce stress
Switching to better hair products for scalp health
Regular scalp massages to promote blood flow
Supplement changes to support hair growth
The Results So Far
With the final session completed, I’m excited about the results. Consistency is key, and sticking to the treatment plan has made all the difference. My edges are fuller, and my hair feels healthier than ever!
