The Coziest Winter Getaway: Where to Stay in the Adirondack Region

Looking for the perfect winter vacation spot? If you're thinking of a cozy winter getaway from New York City, let me introduce you to one of the most charming Adirondack hotels — the Brentwood Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY. Just a three-hour drive from the city, this spot is an ideal escape when you're craving a change of scenery but don't want to venture too far.

Brentwood Hotel is a hidden gem located on the historic Saratoga Springs horse racecourse. It’s not only stylish and sleek but also pet-friendly, making it a great choice if you’re bringing along your furry friends. With only 12 guest rooms, it offers an intimate and personalized experience, perfect for a winter vacation.

In these times, safety is key, and Brentwood Hotel has adapted beautifully by offering a contactless check-in and check-out process. Before I even arrived, the hotel staff reached out to confirm my stay and arrival time. Once I got there, they sent a unique key code via text to access my room, which made me feel safe and secure.

Now, if you’re wondering where to stay in the Adirondack region that combines comfort with style, let me tell you about my stay in Room 10. It was a cozy haven with thoughtful touches like a minibar stocked with local treats, a Bluetooth-enabled Tivoli radio, and luxurious bath products from Beekman 1802. The bathroom design stood out with its brass hardware, black walls, and white porcelain — a mix that’s both modern and rustic, reflecting the hotel’s overall vibe.

The exterior of the Brentwood Hotel, with its whiteboard-and-batten design, reminds you of the local stables, fitting right in with the racecourse across the street. Minimalist brass lights add the perfect touch of warmth, making it an inviting place to return to after a day out in the cold.

And speaking of warmth, if you’re a dog owner like me, you’ll be happy to know that Brentwood Hotel welcomes pets with open arms. My puppy, Zoey, was greeted with her own doggy kit, complete with a sleeping pad, bowls, and even some treats. For a fee ($40 for the first night and $20 for each additional night), your pet can enjoy the winter getaway with you.

During my stay, I spent cozy evenings by the fire, chatted with the friendly hotel manager, Rob, and took in the beautiful racetrack views. While the bar and lobby were closed due to the pandemic, I’ve heard great things about the signature drinks they serve, so I’m planning to return when things open up — especially during the summer racing season.

If you’re searching for Adirondack hotels and motels that offer a mix of charm, comfort, and safety for your winter getaway, I highly recommend the Brentwood Hotel. It’s a cozy, welcoming retreat that truly stands out, and I can’t wait to go back.
